Norge GT 8V Overview
The 2011 Norge GT8V was initially unveiled during EICMA 2009. Now, the new and improved flagship touring bike of the Moto Guzzi model range will be stateside in early Spring of 2011. The 2011 Norge GT8V boasts a maximum torque of over 77 Ft Lbs delivered at 5,500 rpm while horsepower has been improved to 102 HP at 7,000 RPM. Compared to the two-valve version, the 2011 Norge GT8V posts a 20% increase in the power curve. The features of the layout of the new engine include a more compact crankcase and a cylinder unit fitted with fins that are tapered towards the direction of travel; this led to changes to the frame and a re-designed fairing. The oil radiator is fitted on the lower fairing lug and has a thermostat-controlled electric fan that keeps the temperature of the lubricant within the ideal range reducing ambient heat that allows for a more comfortable ride.
Ergonomic research has resulted in many changes to the 2011 Norge. The instrument panel has been re-positioned to make it easier for the rider to view its readings. The saddle is now just 31.9 inches in height and fitted with a wider and well-padded seat. The handlebar has been lowered and retracted slightly giving the rider greater control of the bike at high speed while reducing arm and shoulder fatigue during long distance riding.
